Get to a Mountain

Posted: March 3, 2008 in Uncategorized

I haven’t posted much lately but hopefully that will change this week. I have been out of town and had a lot going on here recently. This last weekend I had the opportunity to speak at a high school/college retreat up in the mountains. I love weekend getaways to spend time just reflecting on God. It’s amazing to look in Scripture and see how many times Jesus took his disciples or other people up into a mountain to give them something special, or to show them something He wanted them to see. That’s what this weekend was for me, as well as the group that I was able to spend that time with. Weekends like this are priceless in drawing closer to God. I think too many times we get busy even doing good things and we don’t just stop and listen to something God might want us to see. I know with your life and family, you may not be able to throw everything in the car and head to the mountains, but maybe it’s a good idea to find your own personal mountain. Just a quiet place where you can do one thing… listen to God. Do you need to get to a mountain?

I’m about to get myself to a beach. Cold, though it is. Good post. Everyone needs to get to a mountain, but few ever take consistent advantage of it.
